This section covers some of the things you can expect from this fanfiction. The story officially starts in 'Chapter 2: Fire and Brimstone'.
I am adding this section as some additional context for the story.
So major topics include those for Adventuring, Battles, GoofingAround, NyxThings and AstarionThings. On that note, Astarion scenes are centred around his character development (AstarionThings) and his vampiric nature (VampireThings), with minor and major scenes throughout the story.
NyxThings are very similar in the sense of interweaving her background story, character development into existing scenes or separate events for her. As well as general RelationshipThings between her and Astarion.
This leads me into the things I want to achieve for this fanfiction:
Numero Uno, this is my first fan fiction as I want to practice a set of different things regarding the writing of stories. I love writing, but writing is not my main vocation and I have up until now only published non-fiction works. I have a lot of stories that I carry around in my head, but never felt like I had the skills to put them to paper. This fanfiction is a step towards learning and practicing those skills. Thus, this is a long term project and it is likely to diverge from the BG3 game - but as previously mentioned it will stay true to the main plot, character stories and retain the essence of its characters.
Things I want to explore during the writing of the story includes:
- Great characters
- Strong dialogue
- Immersive stories
Great characters:
- What makes relatable characters that you want to have more of?
- What makes characters different from one another and how do you portray this?
Strong dialogue:
- How do the motivations, background and personality of characters determine their actions, decisions, thoughts and dialogue?
Immersive stories:
- Incorporate 'human' elements into character stories; even for those who are 'thinking types' or 'darker types'
- Evil vs. dark vs. misguided elements
- Romance and intimacy
- Aim for fresh and tasteful
- Note to self: avoid tackiness
Fun stuff I'd like to play with:
- Monsters
- Battles
- Banter
- Symbolism
- Characters I'd normally 'not see myself writing about', such as a seductive vampire spawn with hidden agendas and trauma
- Characters not found in 'main stream media', such as Tav and Nyx who are both rare MBTI-female combos
Therefore, thou shalt expect many interesting things for this story while I put my crazy ideas to paper as we journey along an 'alternate campaign' for the characters of BG3. I'll reiterate that this is a long term project to explore all the things listed above and I'm in no rush. It will be SlowBuild and SlowBurn/Romance within the context of the story and characters. Also, I'll likely discuss some of these ideas in the chapters as they progress. I'm basically treating this fanfiction as a writer's notebook; such that I'm trying new things and different ideas - and if I entertain you in the process its a huge bonus.
I do hope you'll have as much fun reading this as I am writing it.
Side Note on Censorship: I don't know where the lines are in terms of World Anvil's views on Violence and Sex. Everyone has a different definition and threshold for these things. Thus, chapters that have NSFW scenes (of which there are 2 scenes in total for Act I; and 1 scene in Act II so far) will link to AO3 just to be on the safe side - as per my best conservative estimation of what 'extreme violence' may be, and including any sex scenes. You can read as a guest over on AO3. I'll isolate these scenes in the chapters and reference the AO3 link in order to read the full uncensored chapter there. As an almost 'fade to black' sort of thing... then 'here is a link for gory stuff or steamy bits' should you wish to read this.
