Koza 9/6/20
Good morning @everyone! It is time once again for some world updates to be sent in! Today, the update would be set the day after we emerged from the Barrow Den as we all rest and heal in the Barracks. The broken bodies of the elves have been collected and piled next to the dead kodo and left there to settle until the Chieftain had time to assess the situation and come to a decision on the manner. Part of the delay was due to the recovery of three wyverns, two as cold as death and one still holding on by a thread. All of the wyverns have been injured, body and soul, in various ways and are aggressive and standoffish even to their Windwarriors as they grieve their fallen. Those fallen are as follows:
Wyverns-
Ashte’waki “Sees the Spirits”- Thought to be dead but is simply gravely wounded. Struggling to stay alive to see Hotah again. She took several arcane arrows to the chest and belly. Though the physical wounds could be healed the arcane damage to the body will take time to work out.
Mowae’ahi “Flies the Highest”- Killed by a Primal as she tried to protect Dehokon
Tanasi “Joining of Three Rivers”- Died from arrow fire.
Please send them to me by 4pm server today to highlight your characters and what they are up to. Remember your Alts and what they might be doing on the side! Check out the Notice Board on the Website for quests if you need something for them to do. Copy and fill in the layout below to maximize your post and get a bit of inspiration!
❏ Give a fairly short description of what your character is doing or reacting to in the story. Usually, a single paragraph to give details on your character activities. Remember to add in hooks for the GMs and players to grab onto. - List out anything that your character needs physically or what they might be building/creating at the time if they do such things. (think: building their hut, crating healing potions, or being in need of leather for their hut and herbs for their alchemy)
Character Updates 9/7/20
❏ Doomwinter: In the immediate aftermath of leaving the dens, Doomwinter primarily made sure to be around in case orders were given. The ghoul would offer in its usual way to haul corpses around, though it wouldn't take any more than a stern look to keep it at bay. The death knight could be spotted lingering at the site of the moonwell for a short while, as well as plucking a small stone from the rubble and pocketing it after turning it in her fingers a few times. She'd also have been seen looking over the dead for several minutes. Once the wyverns had been recalled, Doomwinter would be seen having a hushed conversation with Uchek'mani.
❏ Saya: As time passes, and so many have been departed for so long, the newest arrival tries to busy herself wherever necessary. But panic mounts with each passing day. Saya spends each night in frustration and fear, fixated on her hands and the dwindling flames they created. No matter what she tried, no matter how much she pleaded to the sky and attempted to squeeze every ounce of mana out of her body, nothing made the situation better. It was akin to having a comfort being slowly eaten away from you, leeching it away until you're left with the scraps and crumbs of whatever you originally had. And she had no idea how to get it back... Save for what the old bull, Ruhanik, had mentioned. A shaman, or elementalist, someone with those abilities to teach her what she was doing wrong. It was certainly starting to degrade her mental health, that was for certain...
❏ Dursk: Since leaving the barrow dens and moving to the barracks with the others, Dursk took it upon himself to get as much sleep as possible at the first chance possible. Yet even before that, he wanted to check on the others, this battle had been a long time coming, and for the most part the tribe and others came out okay. As much as he would have liked to spend time with Samiwa and to look her over himself, he left the wyvern to grieve and instead went about checking on those he had personally recruited to their cause before checking in on Shogra and Neran. He was surprisingly fond of the little group they had collected, but was warning himself not to get too attached... which was hard to do when flipping the orcess’ trader mark between his fingers. Aside from his attempts to make sure they were for the most part okay, he’d help wherever needed, and when not needed, would descend into the sweet blissful embrace of sleep.
❏ Mahala has gotten very good at putting on a brave face over the years, and this last little while she had put it to good use. Perhaps the only one who might be able to tell was perhaps Dakoda, the bull being a pleasant companion to her as they kept about their work in the village. She rather liked the bull, and knew they were in somewhat of the same situation: people they loved and trusted were out there, possibly getting killed, and the situation at the village was still somber. However she felt as if the two of them were doing their best. Perhaps Ruhanik would’ve seen through the mask she had put on, but she hadn’t seen much of the elder lately. Had she had the time, she might have tracked him down, but with the lack of people and Narv still bedridden she had other things to worry about. Especially the ring on her finger. She was hoping that maybe, just maybe it would turn out like last time and Koza would actually be alive, that the ring would turn back to its original colour. As time went on and the ring failed to change much, she lost much of her hope, thinking on all the loved ones she was losing, and the one at the village with her that wanted to leave.
❏ Enyetof has been keeping himself busy since emerging from the den. Though still weak, he has been doing what he can to help the injured. Seeing the fate of three of the wyverns, his feeling of guilt has been replaced by one of deep anger. He has done what he can to help Ashte’waki’s recovery, though his focus is now completely on recovering his Necklace of Binding. And possibly breaking an elf’s spine over his knee.
❏ Koza: Finally regaining consciousness after being removed from the Barrow Den, Koza has been uncharacteristically quiet. Pain still rippled within her, the internal damage only being a fraction of that pain. Every hour she tried to struggle back to her feet, but found that the final toss and scrambling while underground had eaten up all that remained of her strength. Although she kept a brave face and spoke to Kanatu, Nataka and Korgig on what had happened above and below ground, the fact that she clutched the feathers she'd earned and her Necklace of Binding in her hands told more then her words would. Holding them as if they'd flutter away with a simple breeze and not daring to wear them yet.
❏ Ustok: After helping the Laughing Skull situate the Barracks into a living space and having a talk with the self-isolating Dursk, Ustok took it upon himself to mourn the wyverns that had fallen in battle. He did not know them, but they had given their lives for the tribe and their kin. The Strider's uncle suffered, and so the bull stuck to him as both a shadow and close kin for the elder to rely on. What the tradesman had said to him still rattled around in his head, and the bull was left with thoughts on what to do now that his mission was over. A trip to the spot he and Nataka spoke of was obvious, but after that? He was not yet sure.
❏ Venzolo spent the time after the battle for the Night Elf base collacting and cataloguing all the loot from the base he could find. He carefully searched every knook and cranny for anything shiny or interesting he could find. In classic goblin style he then piled all the loot in one spot so he could sit on top of it while he nursed the wound in his shoulder. He was very anxious to get back to the village as with this buisiness finally done Venzolo’s mind has gone back to thinking about what still needed to be done for the skyship. The mithril metal they had collected would be good for the skyship but he was beginning to think that his designs for the skyship may need to be further adjusted. He was also beginning to worry about the fuel they would need to actually fly the thing. The Phlogiston collector he created was not meant to provide fuel for the entire ship it was simply so they could have extra on hand for the building process. With Lorena progress on the ship would probably be increased so it would make up for lost progress. It would soon be time to start thinking about the fuel issue. Despite his wanting to get back to the village he wasn’t one to argue with the wyverns who all seemed to be in particularly bad moods, especially Taco. It would probably be best to leave them alone for now.
❏ Texas has been struggling to recover both physically and mentally. His attention has been entirely focused on Hotah, nearly to the detriment of his own body. The injury to his spine is no better than when they emerged from the den, and though he can walk it seems to cause him tremendous pain. He cannot stand for too long and struggles to move.
❏ Iko meanwhile has left the village to go on a run to Thunder Bluff, a couple of cubs in tow for sale. She intends to trade for some supplies, extra crop seeds and reagents to assist Venzolo's construction of an ice box when he returns.
❏ Jaeva: With the wrap-up in the elven settlement, Jaeva has tended to all the wounded to a point that they can start thinking about traveling again. The death of her Wyvern has been tugging at her emotionally and she seems to have a distant, saddened look in her gaze. Though she did her best to tend to Ashte'waki so that they may live, the Wyvern still would have a long way to go in terms of recovery.
❏ Korgig: With Koza, Hotah, and the other wounded being tended to, the Mag’har seemed more distant suddenly. He expected some sort of counter-attack while they invaded the den, but perhaps he didn’t expect so vicious of one with so many losses. He had also been seen arguing with some voice no one else could hear. Perhaps he was starting to crack after all of this, but he could be heard refusing to go away from the elven stronghold alone for whatever reason it seemed he was being called. He spent a great deal of his time on what remained of the barracks’ roof. Replaying their initial assault in his head. It could have been cleaner, there could have been less losses. Though Cirrus’mani would take him there and return him to the ground, the former Pride Champion remained with the other wyvern outside of that. Korgig assumed it was how they mourned and didn’t draw attention to it. With their people being recovered a weight had been lifted from the smith, though another was quickly moving to take its place.
❏ Kota'Vi: Having succumbed disgracefully to the mental manipulation of the Kaldorei. Kota had come to her senses to realise she'd attacked an ally. Her shame would not leave her through the next few hours. Doing all she could to help heal Teyshas.
❏ Dehokon, Dasota, Winona and Nataka would take up the night watch around the broken up barracks without complaint. They refused healing and rest until everyone else was healed and seen to. It would seem that their time this trip with Nataka himself had forged them to be just as stubborn and protective of the tribe as Nataka himself.
❏ Muuran had been distant from everyone. Going right to sleep as soon as he had been recovered from the forest by Korgig and remaining that way without eating.
❏ Shogra and Neran had seen to the remaining two war kodo and then set up inside the Barracks to benefit from the Tribe's protection. They could be seen whispering together long into the night. There seemed to be a bit of an argument between them though they always kept their voices down so that no one else could hear unless they got close and by then they would stop talking. Eventually, Shogra would pass out from exhaustion, leaning up against Neran's arm as the giant bull dozed.
❏ Lorena had found a nice spot to sleep in, away from everyone else, and barricaded by several loud or heavy objects. If anyone planned on talking to her they had to get through a minefield to do so. She had been pretty quiet since Bonedog was brought back from the brink and when she was spoken to she used cutting words, sarcasm, and threats which one usually trusted to be followed through on.
❏ Bonedog worked right up until he passed out. Having cooked for everyone a spicy soup of random things tossed into a pot. It was advised that no one ask what was in there but it was tasty and hot which was more than the Tribe could have hoped for after nearly ten full days of cold jerky, bread, and dried fruit. When he did finally pass out Kanatu made his way over to inspect the cut on his arm. Being the only one with the use of holy energies at his command he spent an hour or so cleansing the orc of the void corruption. To his knowledge, the spell used was meant to distract and perhaps to cause madness but Bonedog had resisted. He did warn Lorena that he might have some memory loss or shifts in personality over time but that he should be okay.
❏ Kanatu had ordered the nightborn brought inside the barracks where he could be watched. Still caged up in the mechanical spider of course. He didn't trust him where no one could see him and until he was sure that the damage to Hotah could be reversed, or at least had an understanding of it he didn't want to kill him. Not yet anyway. He did have Venzolo search his pockets and the remainder of the journal detailing his work on Hotah was found. He set Garth to translating it. After this, though he moved off to rest with Jaeva, having pulled several of the elven mattresses and blankets into the armory and made a nest for them.
❏ Hotah was kept unconsius for the night through magic. Allowing what was hoped to be dreamless sleep. Kanatu ordered that everyone rest before they worry about Hotah who would be best served for study when everyone was rested and had a keen mind.
Kanatu Skyrunner 9/13/20
Good morning @everyone
World update time! The Tribe has been home for several days now. Work on the Zeppelin, after the design rework, has doubled. ((See #zeppelin-construction for additional details)) The Forge has been fired up again, the smoke rising from it cleaner than before as it's powered by the heart of the Corehound. Within the Wyvern Roost the young cubs are flying around more and more. Soon they will be unleased upon the village and watchers will need to be assigned to babysit them so they don't endanger themselves or anyone else. Narv still hasn't been seen and only allows Mahala, Jaeva, and Kanatu to visit. Rumor is that he is eating at least. The nightelf priestess still lays in a coma though her prognosis is looking up as her eyes are moving under her lids. The Nightborn on the other hand has been caged in a steep contraption under the bridge. He's treated well enough with food and water for the moment as the tribe lets him stew. Soon enough though questions that demand answers will be asked. Hotah has slowly been adjusting. He no longer seems completely terrified of everything in Kanatu's chambers but he still won't let anyone from his past come close to him. Please send them to me by 5pm server today to highlight your characters and what they are up to. Remember your Alts and what they might be doing on the side! Character Updates 9/14/20
❏ Venzolo had been rather busy with the upgrade to the skyship now in the works. Mainly he was running between everyone to keep them all on task and up to his standards and wasn’t paying too much attention the rest of the village. Though he was rather impressed with how self-sufficient many had become with the work which let him take mainly a supervisory and planning role. Even so, he was still getting his hands dirty working with Lorena on the engine. However, the skyship wasn’t the only project he was working on now either. After the prisoner had been squared away in his cage Venzolo began spending several hours every day just creepily staring at him in his cage not saying anything at all. He also usually took his meals with the prisoner eating slowly while he stared at him intently. It was necessary to get a feel for a prisoner before the real work was to begin. Even with everything else going on Venzolo had also began drawing designs for the home he had long been planning to build. He had claimed a small area near where the old forge had been as the site where he planned to build his new home outlining the area with stones. With all of this work going on Venzolo often found very little time to sleep though he was very high functioning even with no sleep. However, every once in awhile, he would conk out and people would sometimes find him sleeping in odd places around the village.
❏ Returning home with the Tribe, Ustok found his hoofsteps to be lighter than they had the last time he had set foot in the village. A great deal of his heartache was gone, or at least mended, but now he was stuck with a sense of uncertainty. He could stay here with family, but he was not sure about planting his hooves anywhere quite yet. So instead he followed his Uncle to visit his father's grave to mourn, said farewell to the bull and Ucheki, then wandered off to take care of business that he had promised himself to complete. It would require him to wander for awhile, and to return to the city of Orcs, but he with an excited voice he told Nataka he would miss the village and Ucheki. That he'd come back someday.
❏ With the Chieftain and the other villagers back, Mahala outward demeanor hadn’t changed much. She still kept much to herself outside of working with the other on the Zeppelin and helping with Narv. She had mixed feelings about the entire Hotah situation, and as badly as she wanted to see him, she was also scared with how the bull would react. The totemic would still go out of her way to say hello to others, but it was rare to see her not busy doing something or other. When she knew Narv was taken care of and that she was no longer needed for Zeppelin work, she would seek out Iko. It seemed as if seeing the cubs again rekindled a promise she had with the wyvern master.
❏ Doomwinter: Back to the routine: eat, sleep, work. Minus the eating and sleeping for Doomwinter. When she wasn’t posted for sentinel detail, or watching a kiln, she kept largely to herself, as always. If the elder were available, she’d perhaps be seen with Ruhanik to speak of her experience in Ashenvale or discussing rune carving. The ghoul, in the meantime, got back to its work cleaning the roost, if allowed. In addition, also if allowed, it could be spotted going in to visit Hotah, potentially toting tools for activities - bundles of sticks, a well-worn stuffed leather ball, scraps of paper and chunks of colored wax.
❏ Enyetof is once again adjusting to life back in the village. He has spent quite a bit of time reconnecting with the cub from his Judgement. Between his care and Iko’s, the cub is growing healthier, but is still unable to walk. Much work remains to be done. Strangely, the twin roots have not resumed their digging. Enyetof makes frequent visits down into the tunnel, though he seems to have nothing to say about it at the moment. In the meantime, he has been busy in the greenhouse or farmlands, making notes and doing alchemical tests.
❏ Jaeva: Since returning home, Jaeva has been resuming her duties and cleaning up her hut as well as the healing room. She has mainly been tending to her new herb sprouting, which have been planted in her garden and coaxed to near maturity over the past couple of days. They are to be placed in her enchanted vials so that they may still live and remain fresh even in travels. As for her part of working on the zeppelin, she still ensures it's done early in the morning.
❏ The past few days and the conversations she has had with others have weighed heavily on Koza's shoulders. These people were her family, but the stress of the poison as well as the void induced nightmares made it difficult to face how she had treated them in the past. That weight only added to the weight of the orange cloth she had been given as Towateke convinced the orcess that something needed to be done. In the quiet of the night, Koza would of sought out Kanatu in order to speak with him. She approached him with a request to leave for a short while, not for too long but she would need to go out and make herself stronger for herself but mostly for the tribe. To reinforce her spirit and to better stand as an example to the tribe as the Towateke she accepted the burden of becoming. Furthermore, she had thought on what Kanatu had said about the trinkets she had already gained and would speak on needing more lessons and knew where she planned to go would teach her all she needed and more. As well as teach Gordrik, as she informed him that both he and Cloudjumper would be accompanying her. With whispered words and a request of a promise to not tell anyone where she was going, she asked how best to get there. Once portals were mentioned, she seemed distraught for a moment as to how she'd pay for them. With one final request to use the gold she'd saved from Ratchet, the trio prepared to leave immediately once the sun rose and she and Gordrik had said farewell to everyone. Gordrik in particular would have approached Kanatu and made a silent promise to him before the three took off towards Thunderbluff.
❏ The Mag’har had fallen into old habits once returning into the village. Those habits would’ve seemed new to the Skyrunner as they were ones he had prior to entering their tribe. As he milled about the village Shadow was ever at his side. He could be heard giving lectures on the importance of honor and strength to anyone who would listen. This included Muuran who was a captive audience. Each morning he and the young bull would set out with Shadow in tow to speak with the ancestors. Muuran didn’t seem to mind and it did do something to help the apprentice cope with what he had done and what he had nearly done. Korgig had spent the first night in the village with Koza. Talking through a lot of what transpired in Ashenvale and it seemed that they both came to an understanding. Beyond that, they hadn’t spent much time together in view of the rest of the tribe.
❏ Within the village, many things were changing. In addition to the workload for the zeppelin doubling, even with all the extra hands that had come over with the Minnow, and the number of tribesman either gone from the village or gone from sight it felt rather empty but at the same time busy. The end of summer was coming and soon that would mean the change into Fall and the Feast of Change. Preparations for it and the zeppelin's food supplies had already begun. The kitchens were bright and alive every day for long hours as food was smoked, salted, packed, frozen in the cellar, pickled, and the early harvest of grain and barley was starting. Only the oldest plantings were ready but it had started.
❏ Along with the change in tasks a change in the weather was coming upon the village. Nights were once again much cooler about the village. No need yet for fires within the huts but blankets were something that were getting some good use again. The days though were still hot around the midday sun.
❏ Hotah had been adjusting. Not well, and not quickly, but he was doing it. Tauren are adaptable beings through and through. He no longer seemed to hate being confined to Kanatu's quarters or afraid of the things he found there. The Chieftain's quarters were not a place he had ever been to in his old life. Though the place was covered in all things that screamed Tauren and Skyrunner it was the best place for him in the moment. Especially as no one trusted him on his own yet. He still needed to be taken care of in even the smallest matters like cleaning himself. As it stands he still only seems to be comfortable around people he's never met such as Garth, Doomwinter and the ghoul, and Kota'vi though even he lost her as she went to the Cenarian Circle in the dead of night and hadn't returned. He seemed to look forward to the ghoul's visits with the activities.
❏ Narv was still bedbound. Though as the days moved on and he continued to eat, and drink water, and overall let himself be taken care of he was gaining strength. The return of Kanatu only seemed to strengthen his resolve to live as the Chieftain had marched into his hut and started a yelling match with the old bull. Provoking him to movement and yelling just to prove that he could still do so. It hurt and Narv was wheezing for two days after but he had done it. There still seemed to be little known about his future and what might happen but he was at least living now.
❏ Now that he was back in the village, Dursk knew he couldn’t put it off much longer. He had made sure Samiwa had her time to mourn and rest, as he felt only natural, but now it was time for him to seriously think about where to get his feather from for his rite. Now set on heading out alone, the orc waited for a more opportune time to leave the village, which was hard considering the growing need for helping hands with the zeppelin. He was pleased that the elves were being kept alive, if anything but for more information. With that thought in mind, the warrior still wasn’t too keen on seeing the Nightborne in the village, even as locked up he was. Though he held no emotional attachment to Hotah, what the elf had done to those he now could consider his friends was unforgivable.
❏ Ruhanik and Dakoda had been busy as ever. Dakoda had really taken to Ruhanik's teachings as a Ritemaster and their place among a tribe as a caregiver. Every hut seemed to have something that they didn't think about needing it delivered the day it was needed. Extra blankets, herbs picked from the moved Greenhouse, a Dreamcatcher enchanted with calming spells for those having nightmares like Muuran. They were also those looking out for the unconscious nightelf, Hotah, and the caged nightborn. Dakoda had been upset to see Koza go but he buried it in his work. He was becoming more like Ruhanik each day in his mannerisms and even his choices. For Ruhanik's sake he spent a fair bit of time at the Glade speaking with Bearskull about the two prisoners. One day he announced that the primal would like to come and see the two, and Hotah. He gave no reason why but the elder tauren vouches for his intent. When he's not doing that he would spend time with Doomwinter, teaching her more of runic magic and being a friend though he had started to allude to an eventual departing from the tribe.
❏ Kireena would have been quite busy. Preparing all the details about the Zeppelin and the work around the village to start getting it ready for Winter. She was short-tempered and barked orders. Kanatu told everyone that it was normal this time of year. A mother bear getting ready for the long slumber. As it was she was spending a great deal of time and money getting the last things needed for the Zeppelin and word of supplies reaching Shadowprey came often enough. She would travel to the shore village as much as she was able to pick up the supplies which included all the animals Ruhanik had ordered several weeks ago. A temporary dry supply tent the size of several massive kodo had been built to house the extra goods. The animals had been penned and housed with the young Striders who were now adult size and rather ornery though not quite to egg-producing age.
❏ Kanatu himself had been busy though in fairly high spirits. At least on the outside. He worked on all matters of the tribe from sun up to sun down and in the mornings the sound of his flute and ocarina could be heard in the predawn light like they had before he left for Hyjal. The sounds of walking in the village normal again at last. Many choices were made in quick succession about various aspects of the tribe. Some small, some large. It was good to have things moving once again at a steady and quick rhythm. Kanatu was not one to have the village be idle. He was available for anyone to speak to though he did carve out time to spend time with Jaeva. They could be seen more and more around the village together, working side by side or at the end of the day he would make visits to her hut to rest for the evening. Whispers started to crop up of his intent to take her as a mate though who started these rumors no one had any idea. It could have been anyone among the tribe as they were all seeking some good news with so much turmoil. The only exception to his fairly easy mood was the day after a late-night visit from Koza and Gordrik. He had been in a bubbling anger the whole day, short-tempered and blunt. He was not pleased in the slightest to see Koza go though he understood her reasons. Gordrik though is what made him most upset. For the first time in his life he had no children in the village. His own or otherwise and that fact bothered him on two levels. One as a chieftain seeing his people without a future, and one as Kanatu and a Father... a failed father.
