We've got back some people we lost.
Yesterday, we met and fought a young grey dragon that we had passed by on the first trip through this area. Or, I think it was yesterday. A lot has happened, and I'm finding it easy to lose track of time. The dragon's name was Razak, and that was his territory. During the fight, with Razak on the edge of death, Lodak flew after Razak into a cloud I could not see through. It would seem that Lodak made it out, having killed Razak, but we would later find that to be a trick.
We travelled for a time after and rested. When we resumed travel, we came across a mudslide. It was a rainy day. Lindsey was caught up in it, and soon enough, so was I. As we fell off the edge, I fell further below Lindsey and stuck my staff into the side of the cliff, transforming it into a tree. The tree caught both of us, as it grew horizontally. Who we thought was Lodak looked over the edge and gave me a toothy grin, then walked off to say that we had died. I knew then that this wasn't Lodak, but Razak. I tossed a card of illusion up high, and the Knights that Say Chick-a-dee-dee-dee appeared. An illusion of aarakocra knights. I ordered them upward to warn the others of Razak, and when they did, Razak threw Doorslam into the mud and unveiled his true form.
I don't think I've mentioned Doorslam yet. He's a talented kenku who we hired to help guide us back to Zhao Aurou. The rest of our party at the time were Lars, Lindsey, myself, Torina, and our new companion Silver, who's a baby griffon that Lodak had bought and begun training. Have I mentioned that we conquered the pyramid of Yushrif and found a piece of the map we're looking for? I drew it a page ago. We're on our way to the pyramid of Darini, on the far side of the continent, but we found a new pyramid a little north of Labrathia.
After our fight against Razak, who we killed, we were sad to have lost Lodak, and I had trouble keeping my light. Today, however, as the others were bathing away the mud, I had a vision. I saw a massive reptilian eye, inside of which was a cauldron. The voice in my vision said that it was my truest mother. Then there was another voice. It sounded much the same, but at a higher pitch, and it said "first one's free." I saw a cauldron, from which grew a tree, and a creek lead from that tree. When I left the vision, I noticed that the creek I had seen in my vision was already in front of me. Following the creek, I found the tree, and I found O Mai, Lodak's familiar. I then found Lodak, sleeping under the tree. Lodak's alive! And he's only a bit exhausted from being brought back from the dead. According to him, it was Aul Eiraf who had brought him back from the dead. She won't be able to do the same thing for a long time. I can't say I approve of her morals, but Aul Eiraf is a welcome ally.
It was a joyous occassion to bring Lodak back to the party. And soon enough, Adriel found their way back to us! With Lozo in tow. I had missed them!
We carved up some of Razak to be used as ingredients or sold for coin. We got back my staff, which I vitally need. I had promised it to Melanie.
It's been quite the eventful trip. A lot has happened. We're on our way back to Zhao Aurou to restock and take a moment's rest.
